Bathroom timeline

Bathroom remodel timeline — week by week

Timelines on the internet assume a perfect empty house and materials already in the warehouse. Coastal North County baths have lead times, inspections, and wet-area cure. Here is a typical sequence after the permit is issued.

Before demo

Selections locked. Waterproofing system chosen. Fixtures ordered — brass and tile are not always next-day items. If the pan is being rebuilt, the schedule is built around that, not around a weekend paint job.

A typical construction arc

Week 1: protection, demo, and rough inspection of what was hiding in the walls.

Weeks 2–3: plumbing and electrical rough, then the shower pan / waterproofing. This is the step that fails when someone rushes tile.

Weeks 3–5: tile, setting beds, and cure. Custom zellige or large-format layouts take longer than a builder 4x4 grid.

Weeks 5–6: fixtures, glass, millwork, paint, punch list.

Occupied homes add days. Coastal moisture adds dry time. A primary suite with custom tile is not a two-week special.

How we set expectations

The written estimate includes a realistic duration for that scope. See Bathroom Remodeling and projects like the Emerald Bath for the finish standard, not a stopwatch.
